Guru Vidushi Kanakalatha Raghavan,
Bharatanatyam epitomizes a fusion of grace, beauty, and refinement seamlessly intertwined with a timeless spirit and panache.
Initiating her journey in dance at a tender age of seven, Kanakalatha embarked on her path under the tutelage of Guru Shri N.N Bhasker. Kindling her passion, she pursued advanced training under the expert guidance of the revered Natyavisharadhe, the late Guru Smt. Narmada. Her dedication culminated in the successful completion of the Vidwat Dance Examination conducted by KSEEB in 1994.
Under the mentorship of Guru Narmada, M/s Kanakalatha marked her “Rangapravesham” debut in 1995 at Ravindra Kalakshetra. Since then, her artistic journey has taken her to numerous domestic and international stages, earning her recognition and praise for her emotive Abhinaya. Kanakalatha has graced many dance galas arranged by the Department of Kannada and Culture, supported by the Government of Karnataka. Her talents also graced the international cultural festival in New Delhi and a significant cultural event – the “Australia Day” celebration organized by the United Indian Association in Sydney, Australia. Furthermore, she has lent her choreographic brilliance to Bharatanatyam productions featured on Bengaluru Doordarshan. In 2001, propelled by the blessings of her mentor Guru Narmada, Kanakalatha established the “Srishti Center for Performing Arts.” Through this institution, she has imparted the art of dance to innumerable students, consistently achieving remarkable academic standards. Her students have achieved an impressive 99% first-class success rate in the examinations conducted by the Karnataka State Examination Board.
